Liam {11 Months}

11 months old. My baby is officially in his last month before he becomes a "toddler." But let's be honest, he'll always be my baby, and I refuse to stop referring to him as such until he's two. You heard it here first.

Each month seems to get better and better. He learns new skills and interests by the day, and it's such a joy to watch him learn. He's so curious, super smart, Mr. Independent and super sweet with a just enough sass.

At one of our many doctor's visits this past month (damn cold season), Liam weighed in at 20lbs, 12oz, but we aren't sure on height. I think right now he's about 21 lbs, 29 inches. I find that now he's so active, he doesn't gain weight as easily as when he would pack on a few pounds a month!

Milestones & Skills
  • Standing -he doesn't do it often, but he can. He does it longest when he doesn't realize it
  • Talking more! He can say Mama, Dada, Puppy, Puffs, That, Book, Up and Vroom
  • Drinking out of a spouted sippy instead of straw
  • Walks well - and FAST - with assistance or holding on to furniture
  • Sharing - so sweet!
  • Shakes head back and forth - it looks like he's saying no, but it's actually a dance move.
Likes
  • Clapping - he claps when he hears it in public or on the TV, and he claps for himself all the time :)
  • Opening/closing doors
  • Diving into pillows
  • Tricking you - he acts like he's giving you something - a toy or his pacifier, and then when you're about to take it he snatches it back! It's hilarious.
  • Chase - he loves when I sing "I'm gonna get you" and I chase him. He crawls away and I catch up to him and tickle him, while he giggles hysterically.
  • Looking out the window - every morning we look out on the street and say "Vroom vroom" at the cars and construction workers
  • Flirting - Liam is always so good when we go to eat with him (knock on wood). He is always such a flirt with the ladies, giving them big smiles and squeals!
  • Testing us - he loves crawling somewhere or trying to grab something/put it in his mouth, and then giving us a sideways glance to see what we'll say. We try to let him explore as much as possibly, and only say "No" or "No thank you" when he's doing something like pulling cords, trying to eat dog food, or turning on the bath when he's not in it :)
  • Dancing - He dances at any melody and it's the most adorable thing ever.
Firsts
  • Haircut - He was born with so much hair, and I resisted cutting it forever. But it was starting to get super long in back and over his ears, so I caved. He did so good!
  • Halloween - Unfortunately, it was horrible weather here in Chicago (cold and rainy), so we didn't go trick or treating. Instead, we went to our friends' house in the suburbs, and I dressed Liam up as a monkey for my own entertainment. (And of course, for a photo opp.)
Dislikes
  • The changing table (still and always)
  • The Nose Frida - We've been sick a lot in the past couple of months and while the Nose Frida used to be funny, it is now viewed as a torture device.
  • Vacuums and hand dryers - Poor baby cries bloody murder!

Eats
Still eats 4-5 bottles each day, but lately doesn't drink as many ounces per bottle. He's also eating 3 meals/day and has some snacks, too!
He's been a little more picky this month than normal, but we've found he loves waffles, almond butter & jelly sandwiches, quinoa anything, black beans, avocados, blueberries, raspberries, pizza and spaghetti.

Sleeping
It depends on the day, but typically Liam naps once in the morning around 9am, and again between 1-2pm. If his naps are shorter, he'll take a third catnap.

He still sleeps through the night, but in recent weeks, he's been waking up earlier and earlier. With the time change at Halloween, he went from waking at 730am to 630am, which we suspected. But we also assumed he'd just eventually get back to old sleeping patterns.

The past week or so he's been waking anywhere from 5am-6am! It ain't right. He's been battling a new mother-fricking cold (I swear he hasn't been healthy since mid-September), and I think that's playing a factor. Hoping he gets back to some normalcy (or at least waking up post 6am) soon, but until then, trying to enjoy the extra time we get together in the morning, rather than being super rushed!
The countdown to one is officially on! We aren't planning anything crazy for his first birthday. We'll be home in Iowa for the holidays and plan to have a get together with family and close friends. Just planning a low-key afternoon with pizza and a smash cake. And booze of course, because quite honestly, I feel like we deserve a party for us, too! We managed to keep another human alive for a year without a clue what we were doing. Here's to us!

See you at One, little man.

Liam Albert {10 Months Old}

Each passing month officially becomes my favorite. I'm just loving this phase of Liam. While he is busy and as such, keeps us busy, he is also learning so much and really developing a personality. I think he is hysterical and adorable, among so many other things. He's so happy and easy-going as well...we get so many comments on how "good" and "happy" and "sweet" he is. I couldn't agree more!

Here's what we're up to at 10 months old!

Stats
Not sure since we don't see the doctor until our one-year visit, but Liam is still just growing every day! He's maybe 28.5-29 inches, and probably 21 lbs, if I had to guess.

New Milestones/Skills
  • Shows/finds things, people and animals - Liam can now show us something when we ask him to. For example, if I ask "where's Dada?" or "Where's your monkey?" he will point, or go pick up the toy.
  • Points where to go or at what he wants - He can also use his finger to point at something instead of just the arm in a general direction.
  • Supported walking - He's getting so good at walking with us holding his hands and with his little walker toy! He is going to be cruising in no time!
  • Recognizes people and things - He recognizes people he's very familiar with and usually reacts to them in some way. The same with toys and food he likes. :)
  • Talking more - Nothing super understandable, except for the addition of "Nay Nay Nay" to his vocabulary, which we are pretty sure means no. (Isn't it too early for that?)
  • Waves hi and bye - He's been doing this for a while now, but he has recently perfected opening/closing his hand to say hi/bye, and does this to nearly every person he sees. It's so sweet!
  • Imitates - He mimics sounds and faces without being prompted and thinks it's just hysterical!
  • Laughs at himself - The other night he made a funny face during dinner and I laughed at him, so he laughed too, and then kept doing it over and over.
  • Sharing - He is getting really good at giving people things, whether it's his pacifier, a toy or a piece of food.
  • Plays with emotions - He knows how to react to get his way, that is for sure!
  • Puts objects in containers

Likes
He is still loving many of the same things, with a few new additions:

  • making silly faces - he does a really funny "cheese" face when I ask him, and other times just to get a reaction from us!
  • eating - whether it's a "ba ba"or real food, he can't get enough. I think he'd eat an entire can of Puffs if we let him!
  • baths - nothing new here!
  • giving kisses and hugs
  • reading books
  • walking himself around furniture, or with his toys
  • getting into everything he shouldn't
  • outside - he cries when we come in from a walk, and is always mesmerized by trees, the sky, etc.
  • blowing air - he thinks it's very funny if you blow air in his face, on his tummy or on his toosh. I know that last one sounds weird but he had a rash recently and I was trying to air it out, and now he finds great pleasure in it, LOL.

Dislikes
Honestly, the kid doesn't dislike much, but a few I can think of:
  • Changing clothes and/or diapers. Still.
  • Sitting still. ongoing.
  • Being sick - I mean, no one likes being sick, but this poor kid really doesn't. We've had some bouts of colds and HFM disease, and he's had a lot of thermometers up his butt and Nose Frida action happening, and he HATES both. I can't blame him.
Eating
Still eating 4-5 bottles/day, plus several small meals! Kid LOVES to eat.

Sleeping
Still going strong with 3 naps/day (we'll probably transition to 2 soon), and sleeping 12 hours at night. We've had some rocky nights recently with teething and being sick, but we can't complain much.

As I said - Liam and life with baby in general is just so much fun. Different than "before" and of course comes with struggles and bad days, but I couldn't love my little guy any more, and continue to look forward to the coming months!

The eternal struggle for a photo continues...

Liam {9 Months Old}

With each passing month, I'm becoming more and more aware that Liam is slowly but surely turning into a little boy - and losing his "babyness." He has such a personality. He is super smart, independent, funny and determined. He knows when to turn on the charm and when to turn on the sass. He has both of us wrapped around his little finger, and he knows it! He keeps us busy and on our toes, and we have so much fun!

    Stats
At Liam's 9-month well visit, he weighed 20lbs, 2oz and is 28 inches long! He's growing perfectly! Everyone always tells me how huge he is, but I feel like he's pretty average size wise. He's in 58th percentile for weight, 35th for height, and his head is still in the 88th percentile, LOL. I hope he gets a growth spurt soon for his height, but if not, oh well. Being short is just fine, especially he's healthy!

    New Milestones/Skills
    • Points - This is hysterical, actually. He looks just holds his arm out and open his hand, most of the time at nothing. We get a kick out of it
    • Dances - To music from toys and from phones, the TV, etc. It's so cute! (see video)
    • Knee crawls - He chooses whether or not to use his knees or "swim" (army crawl on his belly) depending on how fast he wants to get somewhere.
    • Responds to "no" - He used to laugh when we said no, but now he is starting to listen! Unless he's doing something really naughty or dangerous, we try our best to gently say "No thank you," and explain why he shouldn't be doing whatever he's doing. Most of the time, he's trying to play with something he shouldn't be. The only times we sternly say no are really when he tries to throw himself off the changing table in dispair {eye roll emoji} or when he tries to stand up in the bathtub.
    • Opens and closes things - Loves to open/close toys that have this function, turn pages in the book, open/close drawers and doors.
    • Responds to "come here" - I often tell him to come with me somewhere and he just scoots behind me. It's adorable!
    • Says Mama, Dada and Baba - mostly Dada and Baba, but I get a few ma'am's now and then! Melts my heart.
    • Waves hi and bye - He started this last month, but now he will wave on his own and when prompted.
    • Recognizes himself - In the mirror, in the oven door, on the fridge, in photos - he sees himself, gets SUPER happy, and sometimes gives himself a kiss. Little narcissist!
    • Imitates people - He is working on this - if you show him something or tell him to do something, he tries to do it, too. He's great at clicking his tongue!
    • Shows separation anxiety - Luckily, not too bad. He cries when our nanny leaves, and sometimes when we leave for work. He's a little leery of strangers, but usually doesn't cry. He gets sad when we have just gotten home from work and have been holding him and try to set him down. Hoping it doesn't get much worse than this!
    • Working on pincer grasp - He's doing great with most finger foods! Addy has learned where to camp out and when for lots of dropped foods :)
    • Exaggerates his mood - He plays up every emotion and can go from happy to PISSED in .001 seconds.
    • Sharing - not quite there, but he'll try to give us something (like his paci) when we ask for it
    Likes
Liam is learning new little "things" every day, and once we show him positive attention for these quirks, he does them over and over again!
    • Initiating games of peek-a-boo - he pulls himself to stand, then squats down behind a table and when you ask "Where's Liam?" he pops up! He also covers his face with blankets and plays that way. It's obviously adorable!
    • Looking at pictures - He is seriously OBSESSED with pictures. We could walk around the house all day showing him photos, or look through photo albums, and he would be OK with that.
    • Looking at himself in the mirror
    • Dancing
    • Reading - He loves books so much! He's great at turning the pages, and wants you to read them 100 times in a row.
    • Playing "SO BIG!"- this is obviously the cutest, too. "How big is Liam?" we ask, and his little arms go up in the air, accompanied by a big smile!
    • Clicking his tongue
    • Tilting his head - mainly when he is in his high chair. He knows it's cute, and just ever so slightly, tilts his head and smiles. He'll do it on your shoulder sometimes, too. (See video)
    • Music - He has a personalized CD of children's songs that use his name (a gift from his Aunt CC), and he loves it!
    • Table food - He has tried so many new foods and we have yet to find out he doesn't like! Prayers that he keeps up the great eating!
    • Puffs - When he sees the can of Puffs, he immediately starts flailing his arms and fussing. He needed one 5 seconds ago!
    • Sippy cup - Now that he can hold and drink from his sippy cup, he just wants to do it all the time! I've even had to put milk in there before because he wouldn't drink it from the bottle! Little Mr. Independent.
    • The bath - He can't get enough. He's at the point now where he can hear the bath water turn on from the kitchen while he's eating dinner. And when we say it's "Nakey baby time," he takes off down the hall toward our bathroom. Smart cookie!
    Dislikes
Honestly, the kid doesn't dislike much, but a few I can think of:
I mean seriously. Drama queen, much? WOULD NOT sit still for a photo shoot. Le sigh.
    • Still HATES being on his changing table. We still can't figure it out, but changing clothes and diapers takes two of us due to the screaming fits that ensue.
    • Being told "no." He used to think it was funny, but now when we say it sternly, he gets sad. And then I feel bad, of course.
    • Sitting still - the child must be moving, all the time. Even in his crib, when he wakes up, he just rocks back and forth.
    • Getting frustrated - he just wants to do everything, to do it himself, and when he can't, or he needs help, he gets real unhappy, real quick!
    • Being rocked - sometimes. If he's really tired, he usually gets pissed when we try to snuggle and rock him! He just wants to lay down and sleep. The good part is that he'll just put himself to sleep in about two minutes, so I won't complain about that skill as long as mama can still sneak in a snuggle from time to time!
    Eating
Liam gets 4-5 bottles day, and is starting to drink less milk now that we're eating more solids. I'm still pumping for my little man, but am having to supplement more with formula, which is all good for this mama.

Liam is pretty much feeding himself and eating purely table foods! His pincer grasp is still a little shaky, but he does great. Our nanny said he was ready to move on from the purees we'd been giving, so we kinda just went for it with the "real" food, and give him everything now! He loves tomatoes, black beans, waffles and meatballs. I steam veggies, cut up all kinds of fruit, give him shredded chicken, ground turkey/beef, spaghetti, mac 'n cheese, quesadillas, waffles...he loves everything! He eats 3 "meals" each day, plus a snack or two. We do keep pouches and purees on hand for when we are on the go.
    Sleeping
Liam is still an awesome sleeper, for which I am so thankful. For a couple of months now, he is sleeping 7:30pm-7:30am. He takes 2-3 naps/day - whether or not he takes a third nap usually depends on how long the previous two were. But sometimes he just flat out refuses, in which case, it's usually an early bedtime because he is SUPER grumpy! He'll sleep just about anywhere - in the car, in his crib, in his carrier, in the stroller and in the pack 'n play. Please Lord, let's keep this up!

The months are just FLYING by, but I am loving every second of being this baby's mama. Let's see what month 10 brings!
Photo shoots are getting harder and harder....

    Liam {8 Months Old}

Mr. Liam Albert Farrell is 8-months-old today! Can you believe it? I know I can't. I will say that this past month has been one of my favorites, yet also super challenging! Liam learned so much in this short amount of time, and some of those things proved to make life a little more exciting for B and me! (Seriously, you wouldn't believe how quickly such a small person can sail across a hard wood floor!)

That said, all the changes are, of course, good! Here's what's up:

I literally had 0.00021358792 seconds to snap a pic before he rolled over.
      Good thing he smiled!
      Stats
Anxious to see what the scale/height is at next month's well visit. I think Liam is probably hanging out around 19-20 lbs. I hope he's grown a couple of inches. I worry all the time he got mom's height.

The shots immediately after the one above. Literally all taken within 60 seconds.

      Likes
He is consistent in continuing to love bath time, squealing, eating, peek-a-boo, etc. But he started getting more interested in some other stuff this month, too!

      • Looking at photos: We walk around the house and point out family in photos. It always makes him smile, laugh and squeal in delight. If he's super cranky or sad, it always calms him down to look at pictures.
      • Reading books: I've tried to read to him since he was a newbie, but he was never interested. FINALLY, he loves reading some of his touch and feel books (animals and trucks), and he LOVES the book Dear Zoo. He is able to open the hide-and-seek flaps, and he thinks it's hilarious!
      • Monkeys: We noticed a certain affinity toward monkeys of any variety. He has a couple of stuffed monkeys/teething toys that he loves, but more than that, when we see monkeys in a book, or make the "ooo ooo ah ah" noise, he gets so happy!
      • Singing: He still hates the changing table, but when I sing "We Go Together" from Grease, I get him to smile, laugh and relax. He also loves "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "You are M Sunshine."
      • Laughing: He was a tough cookie to crack, but we've unleashed the dragon, and Liam finally laughs all the time! At anything and nothing, most of the time. Sometimes it's belly laughs and some times, just a little giggle. It's the best. (See video)
      • Swinging: Seriously has the best time.
      • His Daddy: No change from last month, but Liam really loves his Dad. I know he loves me, too, obviously - but he is just enamored by Bryan. If I'm feeding Liam in his high chair and Bryan is on the couch behind him, he turns to look where he is. Knowing how much Bryan wanted a son, makes their relationship even sweeter in my eyes.

      Dislikes
      • Still hates getting dressed/having his diaper changed
      • Still must be eating always
      New Milestones/Skills
      • Pulling to stand
      • Has two teeth, with about four on the way
      • Army crawling! He is very quick and moves everywhere. He's also close to crawling on all fours, and gets into push-up/plank position. I wasn't kidding above when I say how quickly he glides across our wood floors. (See video)

      • Gives kisses: Open mouth whoppers, all day, e'ry day!
      • "Waves" hi and bye: By "wave," I mean moves his arm up and down, but he'll figure out the hand motion soon!
      • Gives high fives True story
      • Drinking from a sippy cup!
      • Still saying consonants, but no real words. I think I heard Mama on the video here, but he hasn't said it since. Just a lot of Babababababababa, all day! I think Da Da will be next. (See video)
      Firsts
      Eating
I'm now exclusively pumping, as Liam never came back from his nursing strike from about a month ago. I've had some supply issues in recent weeks, but am still pumping and doing what I can there, so I'm supplementing with formula. I have a big freezer stash that I could pull from, but I'm saving it for while we are on our trip. Time will tell, but I think I will start weaning from the pump in the next month or so, depending on what my supply does.

That said, Liam gets 4-5 bottles/day, at about 5-7oz/each. He also eats solids three times a day, and will eat anything! He figured out how to suck pouches on his own, and can also drink water from a sippy with a straw! We've been trying to try some table foods, but he gags kind of easily, so I'm basically terrified to upgrade from the purees. He seriously loves everything we give him.

      Sleeping
Still going strong! He sleeps 7:30pm/8pm-7:00/7:30am most nights. Teething has presented some disrupted sleeping but not too badly, thankfully. More than anything, he's going through this phase where he falls asleep while we rock and when we lay him down, he wakes up and just starts rolling around/playing in his crib. Most of the time we let him play and tire himself out, but sometimes he needs intervening.

He naps 2-3/times day, depending on how long the naps are and how long he's been awake (wakeful periods are a little longer these days at 2.5 hours), but he still naps about 2-4 hours/day.

That's it for month 8! Can't wait to see what 9 months brings!

      Liam {7 Months Old}

      Stats
We don't have a well visit until September, but we think Liam probably weighs about 18.5 lbs, and is about 27 inches long.
      Likes
      • YELLING! He screams and yells and squeals and it is the cutest thing ever. (See video)
      • Blowing air between his lips...see short video below, but it is adorable!
      • Eating, especially now that we've started solids. There is not much he won't try! He loves sweet potatoes, peaches, bananas and squash. We also give him table food at restaurants, like french fries (LOVES), hummus, avocado, etc. He gets supremely pissed when you eat in front of him and he gets nothing...it's hilarious and annoying at the same time.
      • Music - any toy that plays music and lights up, he is all in.
      • When I sing "You are my Sunshine."
      • Peek-a-boo. I hide behind the counter, jump up and yell, "PEEK!" and it scares the crap out of him. Then he laughs...and sometimes cries :) (See video)
      • Being high in the air - Daddy lifts him up and they "fly," or we count to 3 and "throw" him, and Bryan puts him on his shoulders, and Liam just squeals.
      • Exploring - child will not/does not sit still, unless he is being put down to sleep.
      • Details like labels and jewelry and zippers and shoelaces
      • Baths. Otherwise known as "nakey baby time" - nothing new here!
      • His Daddy. He is so happy and excited when he gets home from work. He turns to find him if he's not holding him. Makes my heart melt!

      Dislikes
      • HATES being on the changing table. There are tears before we even lay him  on it, so we've taken to changing his diaper on the floor.
      • Not having food to eat when others are eating. Gone are the days of taking him out to eat with us and him being super chill. We'll still take him out, but he must be in on the food action. Or else!
      • Hand dryers and toilets. Any time I have to change him in a public restroom, I hate it, and so does Liam. The loud dryers and toilets scare the crap out of him!
      New Milestones/Skills

      • First tooth! Teething hasn't been TOO terrible. 4th of July weekend was rough (that's when we started with the swollen gums, etc) but  for the past few weeks, he's been totally normal! He has needed ibuprofen to help him sleep some nights. Sunday, I did my tooth check and could feel that one of your front teeth had cut through! Your second one is on it's way!
      • Army crawling! He is very quick and moves everywhere. He's also close to crawling on all fours, and gets into push-up/plank position.
      • Learning how to kiss, clap and wave "bye bye"! We're trying to teach him these ourselves, so stay tuned for next month!
      • So many consonant sounds - "mmm" "thhhh" "ba"...we hope to hear a word soon! :)

      Firsts
      • Visit to the zoo
      • Swim in the big boy pool (see video)
      • Time at the lake
      • Sleepover in a hotel
      Eating
Still pretty much exclusively breastfed, although I have been supplementing with some formula as of late so I can stash some milk for you to have while we are in South America.
      Just had some raspberries!
You have about 5 bottles a day, and eat solids 2-3x a day. You LOVE any solid food. Green veggies are your least favorite (join the club!)

      Sleeping
Liam is awesome at sleeping these days! He officially moved out of the beloved Magic Sleep Suit. We envisioned a much worse transition than actually happened, so thank you, my love, for surprising us yet again. He goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes up between 7 and 7:30am most days. Some days we get a nice 6-6:30am wake-up, but that usually happens when we put him to bed too late night before. He's still taking 3 naps most days, but has also only taken two a few times before.
Since sleeping in a sack vs that suit, he sleeps on his side or belly (which is SO adorable) and can also find his own paci. We have really only needed to go in to him at night if he can't find the paci for some reason, or if he's upset about something (like teething).

      Liam {6 Months Old}

Well hot damn. Our baby is half a year old. I know I sound like a broken record but seriously....WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?! I don't understand.

      Stats

According to the doctor our 6-month well visit, little sir is clocking in at 17 lbs, 12 oz, and 26.5 inches long. So big! Hair is still brown (looking auburn sometimes, too) and it's looking more and more like he'll be a big, brown-eyed boy!

      Likes
      • peek-a-boo
      • kissing. he grabs my face (and others) and just goes in for it. I'm sure he doesn't know he's giving kisses, but it's still adorable. He loves getting kisses, too!
      • being naked (nothing new from last month). When we have him in his diaper, it's "nakey baby time" and he just goes nuts with squeals and smiles.
      • grabbing hair and faces
      • his hands. we catch him just staring at his hands, bending fingers and turning them over, like he's just discovering what they can do! (like pull and grasp)
      • anything in his mouth
      • blowing raspberries
      • "surprises" - we turn our backs to him and then flip around, hide behind doors, etc and then "surprise" him. He loves it!
      • imitating sounds with his tongue
      • sign language - since we started with solids, we've been teaching "please," "more" "all done" and "thank you". He laughs when we do these funny motions with our hands :)
      • getting snot sucked out of his nose. True story - he's gotten two colds in the past month, and while he hates the saline squirts, when I use the Nose Frida, he smiles and just stares at me. He also loves oral medicine, like Tylenol and Gripe Water. Gulps it down! Weirdo.
      • moving around. Little man is going to be busting a move soon, I just know it. He's scooting and turns himself around on his belly. Basically, if he wants something that is not in his grasp, he finds a way to get there. (see video below)
      • Weird noises. Clucking, tongue noises, anything weird coming out of your mouth, he thinks it's hilarious.
      • solid foods! He loves trying new things, but current winners are oatmeal, sweet potatoes, squash and french fries (oopsies.)
      Seriously...E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G in the mouth!

      • Diaper or outfit changes. Not sure what has happened, but he goes berserk these days EVERY TIME we lay him on the changing table.
      • Sitting still. Constantly turning, looking, squirming, jumping, bouncing. The only time he is still is when he is sleeping or eating. even eating is a challenge sometimes, as he has recently started slapping my chest and grabbing my skin while he eats. Super pleasant.
      • Saline squirts in his nose. No one likes post-nasal drip!
      New Milestones/Skills
      • Scooting, turning on his belly (see video)
      • He can hold himself up with both arms during tummy time (which is all the time, because we can't keep him on his back!)
      • Sitting (still a little wobbly but for the most part, he's got this down!)
      • Supported standing - YEP. I can't believe it. but sure enough, put him in front of something his height to hang on to, and he'll just stand and chill. WHAT IS HAPPENING
      • New noise: roaring (see video) and chuckling -- like "heh heh heh" noise.
      Firsts
      • First overnight stay away from Mom and Dad. We went to Key West for 4 nights and 5 days while my mom came to Chicago to stay with Liam. He did awesome for her, and we missed him like crazy, but it was nice to get away!
      • First time in a swing. Took a time-out from Tate's birthday party for some swing action. Loved it!
      • First time in a pool. Very hesitant at first b/c the water was a bit cool, but once he got adjusted, he loved it!

      Eating
This night goes down as one of the funniest as a parent.

Still exclusively breastfed. I nurse him for overnight feedings, if he has them, and first thing in the morning, but other than that, it's pretty much bottles of breast milk. He eats 5-6.5oz bottles...7oz if he's really hungry!
And, as of a few weeks ago, we started eating solid food! We started with oatmeal cereal and quite honestly, I have no idea if he liked it or not. He made hilarious faces, mostly because it's obviously a new texture and taste than he's used to - he kept banging the counter for more! We also gave sweet potatoes (a big hit), green beans, carrots and squash. We've also had him try some table food, like gumming on french fries and smashed avocado. Solid foods are so fun!

      Sleeping
Generally speaking, he's an awesome sleeper. He takes 3, sometimes 4, naps per day, ranging from 45 minutes to 2 hours. He is super predictable, too, and while we are flexible based on how long he's been awake, etc., we pretty much operate on clock-based schedule. Not because I want to, but because Liam has shown he likes routine and that's just how he works!
We go to bed at between 7-8pm, depending on how much napping he's done or how long he's been up since his third nap. He'll sleep through until 7-7:30am most days, sometimes with a paci-put-back or two, sometimes with a feeding or two, sometimes with nothing at all!
We are so lucky that we have such an awesome, easy baby. I hear so many horror stories about babies with colic, or who don't nap, always have to be held, etc. etc. Liam is just chill. He's independent. He's happy. He's healthy. And we just love him so with each passing day!
